Biography
Rick Maijer has been working as Advisor Public Affairs at the House of the Dutch Provinces in Brussels since May 2020. Together with his colleague Arthur Maurer, he represents the interests of the province of Limburg in Brussels. Rick is responsible for maintaining the relations of the province of Limburg with the EU institutions and identifies EU related opportunities. Rick is also the provincial contact person for the Benelux Union and has a supporting role at the Committee of the Regions.
Rick is chairman of the regional economy working group for which he deals with cohesion policy and industrial policy. Rick is also a member of the agri-food, and the sustainable and healthy living environment working group for which he take the lead on the dossier water. Rick is a member of the Vanguard Initiative network.
Rick’s academic background is a Master of Arts in European Public Affairs at Maastricht University and a Bachelor of International Communication from the European Studies program at Zuyd University of Applied sciences, Maastricht. For these studies he did an internship in a PA consultancy, then called The Center in Brussels and an internship at the European Institute of Public Administration in Maastricht.
