Biography
Margot Niezen has been the EU representative of the province of Overijssel since 2021. She is responsible for maintaining relations with the Brussels network, promoting provincial interests and advising regional ministers on European developments. She does this specifically within the priorities of regional economy, circular economy and mobility.
Career
Prior to her position at the Province of Overijssel, Margot worked for a number of years as an account manager at an international company. Before that, she did the Bluebook Traineeship at the European Commission.
Margot has completed a double master’s degree in European Studies at the University of Twente and the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster (Germany). During her Bachelor’s degree in European Studies at the Northern University of Applied Sciences in Leeuwarden, she studied for a semester at the Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Recht in Berlin. In addition to her mother tongue Dutch, she also speaks English and German.
