Biography
Bart Molenkamp is associated with the House of Dutch Provinces as Public Affairs EU advisor as of 2024. There, he represents the interests of the Twente cities of Almelo, Enschede and Hengelo in Brussels. The three cities decided in 2023 to join forces in the field of public affairs and work together for a stronger presence in Brussels. In doing so, they are building on a rich history of Twente representation in Brussels.
Bart is responsible for maintaining relations with European institutions and networks. The focus is on linking projects and developments in the cities to European programmes. In doing so, he focuses on a number of important dossiers for Twente, such as water & climate, mobility, energy transition and cross-border cooperation. Besides Bart, colleagues Erik Stok (Hengelo), Gerdien Looman (Enschede) and Marloes Meijer (Almelo) are also regularly present in the HNP.
Career
Bart has been working as Public Affairs EU advisor for Almelo, Enschede and Hengelo since 2022. Prior to this position, he completed a master’s degree in China Studies at Shanghai International Studies University. Before going to China, Bart completed a bachelor’s degree in History and a master’s degree in Politics & Parliament at Radboud University Nijmegen. During this master, he worked as an intern within the International Team of the municipality of Rotterdam. Bart is fluent in Dutch and English and has a reasonable command of German and Chinese.
